Frequently Asked Questions - E-Mail

Can I use my e-mail account to send out advertisements?
E-mailing unsolicited advertisements is considered bad "netiquette." There are many nicknames for unsolicited e-mail, but the most commonly used is "Spam." We define Spam as: any unsolicited e-mail, USENET (Newsgroup) postings that are not permitted by the specific newsgroup charter, off-topic newsgroup postings, posting articles containing binary encoded data to a non-binary newsgroup, and/or excessive Cross-Posting (posting to more than one newsgroup at a time).

We investigate each violation individually. First-time offenders will be sent an e-mailed warning. Newsgroup posts may be cancelled at our discretion. Repeat offenders will be subject to:

  • Immediate account suspension
  • Possible account termination, at our discretion, with no recourse or refund due to violation of our SPAM Policy
A very good alternative to sending unsolicited advertisements is using a Listserver. This allows members of the mailing list to sign on at their own accord, and be able to remove themselves from your mailing list, should they choose to do so at a later date.

How do I configure my mail program to receive my Elite Host mail?
The answer really depends on which mail program you are using. There are literally dozens of mail programs that are available, and each has its own setup procedures. As a general rule of thumb:
  • Your mail program will ask you where to download your Incoming Mail from. To collect your incoming Elite Host mail, enter: mail.elitehost.com in the Incoming Mail area (note: this may be called something else in your mail program, although the name may be similar).
  • In the area that asks for your password, enter the password you chose when you created your Elite Host account. Should you forget your password, contact our Accounts department via your primary e-mail address that was used when you created your Elite Host account, or call our Customer Service telephone number that was e-mailed you with your account confirmation.
If the above information didn't solve your problem, contact our support team. Your question will be answered in a timely manner.
